Provided is a lithium ion capacitor that is capable, during internal short circuiting, of suppressing a rise in capacitor temperature and controlling the onset of gasification, smoking and ignition, and of having preferably both low resistance (that is, high output density) and high cycle characteristics. This lithium ion capacitor is obtained by accommodating, in a cladding body, a nonaqueous electrolyte solution that comprises a lithium ion-containing electrolyte, and an electrode layered assembly in which a negative electrode collector comprising a negative electrode active material formed from a carbon material and a positive electrode comprising a positive electrode active material are layered so as to face one another via a layered separator consisting of layers of polyolefin porous membrane and an insulating porous membrane. The lithium ion capacitor is characterized in that the insulating porous membrane is in contact with the negative electrode. |
