PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-sensitive recording medium which has excellent light resistance but does not cause color development or discoloration even when exposed to ultraviolet light and to provide a coating liquid for forming a heat-sensitive color developing layer.SOLUTION: In the heat-sensitive color developing layer, a leuco dye, a color developing agent, and a polyvinyl alcohol resin having an acetoacetyl group and a sulfonate group or both of another polyvinyl alcohol resin having the acetoacetyl group and a different polyvinyl alcohol resin having the sulfonate group are incorporated.
