PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a mechanical compression ratio to be smoothly changed.SOLUTION: A variable compression ratio mechanism for an internal combustion engine includes an operator, an input actuator, and a reverse input cutoff clutch 62. The reverse input cutoff clutch includes a fixed member 72, a movable member 73, a clearance 74, a wedge member 75, and a mover. The peripheral face of the fixed member is formed so that a rotation preventing region PA for preventing the rotation of the movable member in an operation direction R of reverse input torque and a rotation permitting region AA for permitting the rotation of the movable member in the direction R are formed in the clearance. The rotation preventing region is located on the further downstream side than the rotation permitting region with respect to the direction R. When the movable member is moved in the direction R to change the mechanical compression ratio, the mover moves the wedge member from the rotation preventing region to the rotation permitting region in the opposite direction and holds it in the rotation permitting region, and in this state, the input actuator rotates the movable member in the direction R. |
