The present invention relates to a battery discharge prevention system for construction machinery, having: a main engine; an alternator for generating electricity using the rotational force of a pulley of the main engine; and a battery for charging up the electricity generated from the alternator and supplying the electricity to a load, the system comprising a switch for controlling the electricity flowing from the battery to the load; a sub-engine for independently operating the alternator when the main engine stops; and a control unit for controlling the on/off movement of the switch and the presence of operation of the sub-engine, according to a comparison result between a voltage value of the battery and a predetermined voltage value. The battery discharge prevention system prevents discharge of the battery that may occur when the main engine does not operate or equipment has been neglected for a long time.
