PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of keeping a multilayer film filter at a correct position in a waveguide device for performing polarization separation with the multilayer film filter.SOLUTION: A pair of positioning cores 103B and 103C for defining the position of a polarization separation element made of a material similar to that of a core 103A forming an optical waveguide are formed in a core layer inside a cladding layer stacked on a substrate 101 of an optical waveguide device. A holding groove 130 is formed so as to extend to the inside of the substrate 101, and the polarization separation element is inserted into the holding groove 130 to be held. In the overhead view from the cladding layer, the positioning cores 103B and 103C are exposed inside the holding groove 130. |
