The tool (10) has a receptacle (12) for windscreen that is provided with a handling component (20) for handling the tool and a spring device (24) through which the handling component and the receptacle are connected to each other and forces of the handling component are transferred on the receptacle. A detection unit (34) is provided for detecting position of the receptacle relative to the handling component. A housing contour (16) of the receptacle is adapted to a portion of outer contour of the windshield. An independent claim is included for a method for mounting windscreen.
