PURPOSE: A medicinal composition or Cedrela sinensis extract is provided to suppress body fat synthesis and body weight and to reduce metabolic syndrome risk. CONSTITUTION: A medicinal composition for losing body weight contains 40-75 weight parts of gallic acid, 15-40 weight parts of ethyl galate, and 10-30 weight parts of methyl galate. The medicinal composition further contains 1-10 weight parts of rutin. A method for preparing the Cedrela sinensis extract comprises: a step of heating Cedrela sinensis leaves and water to prepare a pre-extract solution; a step of filtering the pre-extract solution to prepare a first solid extract; a step of extracting the first solid extract with an alcohol-solution to prepare a second solid extract; a step of extracting the second solid extract with the alcohol-solution to prepare a third solid extract; a step of extracting the third solid extract with the alcohol-solution to prepare a fourth solid extract; a step of extracting the fourth solid extract with the alcohol-solution to prepare a fifth solid extract; and a step of extracting the fifth solid extract with the alcohol-solution to prepare the Cedrela sinensis extract. |
