720,852. Bearings. SOC. ANON. GIUSTINA & C. March 26, 1953, No. 8431/53. Class 12 (1) In a bearing structure for a spindle 1 carrying a grinding wheel 2 at one end and a driving roller 3 at the other end, the spindle is supported on the driving roller side by two stationary bearing sectors 5 orientated in the direction of belt tension, and on the grinding wheel side by three bearing sectors, two of which 7 are orientated substantially in the direction of the resultant of the forces applied to the spindle during work, the third sector 8 being radially disposed in a direction opposite to the force resultant, and subjected to the action of resilient pressure means in order to maintain contact with the spindle 1 and permit heat expansion of the latter. The sector 8 is secured by bolts 9 to a cylindrical guide member 10 which is axially displaceable within an extension 11 of the machine frame. The member 10 encloses a helical spring 12 bearing against a plug 13 screwed to the frame extension 11. The spring 12 balances the weight of the rotary parts. |
