725,758. Fluid-actuated valves. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. June 9, 1953 [June 23, 1952], No. 15876/53. Class 135. A valve for controlling a hydraulic motor 2 and of the kind having a movable valve member 6 which is operated by a handle 41 against the bias of centralizing springs 35, 36 to a position for admitting pressure fluid from an inlet 7 to one side of the motor and in which position it is held by a detent 47 engaging either of two grooves 45, 46 in the valve member until the motor completes its movement has the detent carried by a piston 48 which is subject to a pressure drop due to the flow of fluid to the motor. In the neutral position of the valve member, as shown, pressure fluid from a pump 3 is passed between lands 25, 26 of the valve member to a return passage 30. Upon displacement of the valve member to connect one of the passages 13 or 14 leading to the motor with the space between lands 27, 28, fluid flows from the inlet 7 through a passage 50 to a spring-loaded valve 57 and thence through passages 56, 51 to the motor, the pressure drop caused by the valve 57 acting on the piston 48 to hold the detent 47 in engagement with the valve member and prevent its return until the pressures on either side of the piston 48 are equalized by cessation of flow when the motor piston reaches the end of its travel. A passage 31 interconnecting the return passage 30 with annular recesses 21, 24 provides for exhausting either side of the motor. The valve may be simplified for use with a single-acting motor.
|
