1. A data processing system, the data processing system comprising:
a data decoding circuit including:
a data decoder circuit configured to: apply a data decode algorithm to a decoder input to yield a decoded output, apply the data decode algorithm to the decoder input guided by the decoded output to yield a first updated decoded output, and apply the data decode algorithm to the decoder input guided by a second updated decoded output to yield a third updated decoded output;an element modification circuit configured to modify at least one element within the first updated decoded output to yield the second updated decoded output;an element modification log configured to maintain a history of one or more modified elements within the second updated decoded output; anda mis-correction detection circuit configured to identify a mis-correction in the third updated decoded output and to return at least one of the modified elements in the third updated decoded output to a prior state to yield a fourth updated decoded output.
