Apparatus, systems and methods are provided for simulating a material. In particular, the disclosed apparatus, systems and methods involve modeling deformation characteristics of a material and generating a virtual representation of a physical interaction with the material based on the modeled deformation characteristics of the material and data representative of the physical interaction.

1. A mobile computing device comprising:
a processor configured to generate a virtual representation of a physical interaction with a material selected from a database modeling real-world deformation characteristics of a plurality of materials based on the modeled deformation characteristics of the selected material and data representative of the physical interaction; and a touchscreen adapted to (i) display the virtual representation of the material; (ii) receive as input from a user the data representative of the physical interaction, wherein the user inputs the data representative of the physical interaction by interacting with the displayed virtual representation of the material, and (iii) display, in real-time, the virtual representation of the physical interaction with the material.
