The system has a laboratory furniture element (V) that is arranged on the front side at the top portion of a housing main portion (1). A drive unit is formed in the housing main portion. The air is distributed evenly over the entire width of the front side of the furniture element. The continuous curtain of air at the interface is distributed between the contaminated and the safe zone of the furniture element to produce the continuous curtain extended from driven air normal to the direction of entry of the natural ambient air.
