PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide active carbon superior in an initial adsorption rate as primary particles of the active carbon without granulation or shaping, and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: When pore size distribution of primary particles of active carbon is measured, a peak of distribution is shown to an area of pore size 0.1-3 μm, and a total cubic content of pore sizes of 0.05-5 μm is not less than 0.4 mL/g.
