摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably prevent preignition and accidental fire of each cylinder by disposing an ion current detecting device 4 only on a part of cylinders.SOLUTION: In shipping inspection of an internal combustion engine, ion current detecting devices are mounted on ignition plugs of all cylinders (step 1), output waveform of ion current of each cylinder is measured under conditions of low-speed high load and high intake temperature, and the data is stored in an engine controller (steps 3, 4). When combustion temperatures of the plurality of cylinders have order, the cylinder of highest combustion temperature and the cylinder of lowest combustion temperature are selected as specified cylinders, and the ion current detecting devices of only the specified cylinders are kept while demounting the ion current detecting devices from the other cylinders (steps 5, 6). After shipping, control for preventing preignition and control for preventing accidental fire are executed for all cylinders by using the two ion current detecting devices.</p>
