PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an R-T-B-based sintered magnet capable of developing a higher intrinsic coercive force Hat high temperatures, and a method for producing the R-T-B-based sintered magnet.SOLUTION: An R-T-B-based sintered magnet comprises: a rare earth element; Fe; and B, and also contains an intermetallic compound represented by the following general formula, as a main phase. The R-T-B-based sintered magnet comprises: Nd; at least one of Dy and Tb; and Pr. At least one of Dy and Tb is enriched in the outer shell part of crystal grains of the intermetallic compound. In at least a part of the surface layer part of the R-T-B-based sintered magnet, the mass ratio of Pr in rare earth elements contained in a metallic phase present in the grain boundary multipoint of the crystal grains is 75% or less, and higher by 10% or more than the mass ratio of Pr in the rare earth elements contained in the crystal grains adjacent to the metallic phase.
