摘要 A packeted dry product for mixture with a given quantity of water or milk to make a uniformly flavoured comestible comprises a dry, powdered or granular food, a sweetening agent and a flavouring material sufficient for the whole comestible incorporated into solid fondant, i.e. a solid or plastic preparation of minute sucrose crystals and sugar, e.g. sucrose, glucose or invert sugar, syrup. The dry foods are exemplified by table jelly crystals, lemonade powders, arrowroot and cornflour preparations, custard and blancmange powders. Pieces of flavoured fondant for packaging with such foods are made, according to an example, by heating 4 parts of granulated sugar with 1 part of glucose and 1 part of water, cooling the syrup so formed, stirring to produce minute sugar crystals and cooling further, melting the fondant so formed at 175 DEG F. mixing an essence of strawberry containing concentrated natural fruit juice and flavouring esters into the molten fondant, and pouring the mixture into flexible moulds of the required size.
