<p>A process for separating kainite from a mineral containing kainite and rock-salt comprises the froth flotation of the finely divided mineral suspended in an aqueous solution containing sufficient magnesium chloride, e.g. 20-40 per cent, to render the kainite substantially insoluble in the said aqueous solution. The suspension is preferably conditioned with a primary cationic long-chain amine salified by carboxylic acids, e.g. an alkylammonium acetate, and brought to flotation by the addition of amyl alcohol.</p> |
