PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that enables, in a configuration permitting unique updating of map data at a user terminal, map data to be readily updated with map update data prepared by a map distribution center.SOLUTION: A map data recording system, when it has acquired server map update data prepared by a map distribution server for use in updating server map data, acquires data resulting from removal from the user's current unique map data the overlapping part between the user's current unique map data and the server map update data as a user's new unique map data, creates intermediate map data resulting from updating of the server map data with the server map update data, updates combined map data resulting from combining the user's new unique map data with the intermediate map data, and updates identifying data with data for identifying the user's new unique map data. |
