PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biological imaging apparatus capable of surely lighting up the inside of an imaging object portion and capturing its image even if the imaging object portion is narrow and deep and exists in a dark place.SOLUTION: A biological imaging apparatus is a hand-held intraoral camera C of which insertion part C1 is inserted into the oral cavity K of a patient P to capture an image of an imaging object portion T. The biological imaging apparatus includes: a passage aperture 21a for allowing incidence of reflected light Lr reflected at the imaging object portion T; an incident light path R2 for guiding the reflected light Lr incident from the passage aperture 21a; a CMOS sensor 52a for receiving the reflected light Lr guided through the incident light path R2 to capture an image; and a coaxial illumination LED 25 which emits, from the passage aperture 21a, light as coaxial illumination light L1 having an optical axis coinciding with the optical axis A of the reflected light Lr along at least the insertion part C1 of the incident light path R2 of the reflected light Lr at the passage aperture 21a.
