The present invention related to a guitar using a smart phone and a method for playing the guitar. The guitar comprises: a plurality of buttons disposed on a frame; a position information recognition unit provided within the frame to recognize position information of a pressed button of the plurality of buttons on the frame; a virtual string display unit configured to display a virtual string corresponding to the position information recognized by the position information recognition unit on a touchscreen; and a sound output unit for outputting sound corresponding to the virtual string when the virtual string displayed by the virtual string display unit is touched. According to the present invention, it is possible to allow a general person or a child to easily play the guitar by generating sound through the smart phone when a button on the frame connected to the smart phone is pressed. Therefore, the cost of the guitar can be reduced, and the user updates a playing application frequently. Also, the guitar can be used for performance, education and games. |
