Disclosed are a pump system and a control method thereof. The pump system according to the embodiment of the present invention comprises: a tank storing a fluid therein; a main pump sucking the fluid from the tank, and delivering the fluid; a suction pipe connecting the tank and a suction side of the main pump; a discharge pipe extended from a discharge side of the main pump; a discharge control valve installed on the discharge pipe, and controlling the opening of a flow path; a flowmeter installed on the discharge pipe at the lower stream of the discharge control valve; a bypass pipe extended from the discharge pipe at the upper stream of the discharge control valve, and connected to the suction pipe; a bypass control valve installed on the bypass pipe, and controlling the opening of the flow path; a suction and a discharge pressure sensor installed at the suction side and the discharge side of the main pump, respectively, and detecting pressure; an auxiliary pump apparatus delivering the fluid by connecting the suction pipe at the upper stream of the main pump and the discharge pipe at the upper stream of the flowmeter in order to allow the fluid to bypass the main pump when the level of the fluid in the tank is lower than or equal to the operational condition of the main pump; and a control part detecting a net positive suction head available, which changes based on the level of the fluid in the tank and the information of the flowmeter, detecting a net positive suction head required, through the flow rate calculation of the main pump, and controlling the operations of the discharge control valve, the bypass control valve, and the auxiliary pump apparatus based on the detected information. |
