Class 61 To enable work to be carried out in a dust free atmosphere, a cabinet is provided having a platform for supporting the work, a transparent panel for viewing the platform, means for circulating filtered air over the surface of the platform and an opening to give an operator's hands access to the platform.- As shown, a box-like structure 1 arranged on legs 2 has an interior compartment 3 having a floor 4 and perforated side walls, a transparent panel 6 being provided in the roof of the cover and an opening 7 in front of the platform. A fan or blower 8 is disposed in the lower compartment opposite an inlet 9 in the side of the box and an air filter 10. Air which may also be heated and cooled is drawn into the cabinet through the filter and passes out through the front opening 7, the current of air. being such as to maintain the pressure in the cabinet slightly above that of the atmosphere. A system of lamps, fluorescent lights or infra red lights 12 are provided and these may be controlled by the switch controlling the blower. In a modification, Figs. 4-6 (not shown) the air stream is supplied through a conduit to a compartment at the back of the cabinet in which a control damper is disposed, the air being fed into the interior of the cabinet through a detachably mounted filter panel. In another modification air is supplied to a series of cabinets from a common supply pipe.</p> |
