The present invention relates to a video display device and a data processing method thereof, capable of reducing power consumption through data modulation, while maintaining brightness degradation and color distortion at a level equal to or lower than a recognition level. The data processing method of the present invention comprises a data modulation step of modulating data of a primary color and white data by applying different gains thereto; a color distortion calculation step of calculating a cognitive color distortion component due to application of the different gains to the data of a primary color and the white data, by using modulation data supplied from the data modulation step and retinex theory; and a gain controlling step of selectively controlling the different gains by using the calculated color distortion component and supplying the selectively controlled gains to the data modulation step. |
