Disclosed are a portable electronic device having a program notification function and a program notification method for the same. The portable electronic device according to one embodiment includes: a display configured with a notification widow; and a notification manager for performing a control operation of displaying predetermined represented notification information onto the notification window if notification requests by programs installed in portable electronic devices are provided. In this case, a scheme of displaying the represented notification information on the notification window may be set by a user. The notification manager performs the control operation of displaying the represented notification information in a preset scheme if user settings are absent, but displaying the represented notification information according to the user settings if the user settings are provided.
