A facial expression display device (1) is provided with an electrostrictive element (20) that comprises a stretched dielectric layer (21) and electrodes (01X-05X, 01Y-05Y) that are arranged so as to sandwich the dielectric layer (21). The dielectric layer (21) has a crosslinked material layer which is formed of a three-dimensional crosslinked material that is synthesized from a rubber polymer and a metal alkoxide compound or a compound having a hydrosilyl group. The electrodes (01X-05X, 01Y-05Y) contain an elastomer and a conductive material. The facial expression display device (1) displays a facial expression by means of the dielectric layer (21) that expands and contracts in accordance with the voltage applied between the electrodes (01X-05X, 01Y-05Y).
