Disclosed are a fuel cell system and a method for operating the same. The method for operating a fuel cell system according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a step for calculating a purge cycle of a discharge valve of a water trap; a step for determining a voltage drop of a stack; a step for monitoring the purge cycle of the discharge valve of the water trap and the stack voltage drop; a step for classifying a humidification state of the stack by area according to the purge cycle of the discharge valve and a stack output voltage; and a step for controlling an operation depending on the area of the stack. |
