The device (2) has a tensioner housing supported on a machine housing (3) by a slide bearing that comprises radial slide bearing surfaces in a radial direction and axial slide bearing surfaces in axial directions on both sides of the machine housing. The tensioner housing is pivotable about an axle (4) of a driving wheel (5). A spring element generates bias force. A tensioning arm is supported against the bias force such that the arm is movable in the tensioner housing. A tensioning roller (6) is supported on the arm. Another tensioning roller (7) is fixedly supported on the tensioner housing. An independent claim is also included for an electric machine.
