<p>The method involves capturing two images of a same portion of a scene respectively with two image sensors (1, 2) in overlapping length segments of the sensors. Two values of a contrast are separately calculated for the two images of the same portion. A direction of an optical focusing defect along a direction (P) perpendicular to the sensors is derived. The two images are captured for single and same adjustment of a focusing system (12) such that a focal plane of an image formation optical system is situated for the images at different defocusing distances (df1, df2) of the sensors. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an image capture instrument (2) a method for assembling an image capture instrument (3) a method for characterizing an optical focusing defect of an image capture instrument among two image capture instruments.</p> |
