The chassis frame side member (4) butts against an end portion of the crossmember (3), the crossmember (3) being fixed to a floor of the body shell, and the stiffening device (19) comprises an upper portion (20) fixed to the chassis frame side member (4) and a lower portion (21) fixed to the crossmember (3), the upper portion (20) and the lower portion (21) being connected to one another by a stiffened intermediate portion (22).
