The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for original data comparison, and apparatus and method for original data recovery. The apparatus which compares the original digital data and modified data including security information which is generated by modifying the security information of the original data and is inserted to the modified data includes: a security area detection unit which detects a security area related to the security information of the data; an additional information detection unit which detects the additionally inserted information in response to the security information in the modified data; a distributed source decoding unit which decodes distributed sources based on the detected additional information and the detected security area; and a matching determination unit which compares the result of the distributed source decoding and the security area information and determines whether the result of the distributed source decoding and the security area information match.
