The present invention relates to a novel JNP3 compound isolated from a traditional Chinese medicine and a pharmaceutical composition and a health food comprising the compound as an active ingredient for anti-cancer. The novel JNP3 compound isolated from a traditional Chinese medicine is confirmed to suppress invasion and metastasis of cancel cells by inhibiting the activity of MMP-9; thereby the JNP3 compound has been identified as a potential anti-cancer agent. Accordingly, a composition comprising the JNP3 compound of the present invention as an active ingredient can valuably be used in the pharmaceutical and food industries.
