The present invention relates to a range hood system and a control method thereof. The range hood system according to the present invention comprises: a range hood discharging smells or smoke, which is generated from a burner, by an exhaust fan; a height sensor installed at the range hood, and measuring the height of the range hood; a temperature sensor installed at the range hood, and sensing temperature; and a control part calculating the rpm of the exhaust fan by result values input from the temperature sensor and the height sensor, and driving the exhaust fan at a lower temperature value according to the increase of the height of the range hood when the steps of the rpm are identical.
