The appliance (1) has a cooking appliance muffle (10). A light source is arranged at outside of the muffle, for illuminating an internal chamber of the muffle through an opening (18) of a mold wall. The light source is arranged below the opening. An optical element is provided for deflecting a light beam of the light source into the internal chamber of the muffle. A light channel is provided between the light source and an optic element. A braided fabric, a non-woven fabric or a felt is arranged between a slide plate and a framing or a housing portion.
