The sample treatment device (1) has a housing (2) and a closing plug carrying a pad (4) and inserted in a receptacle opening (3) of the housing up to a use position. A fluid chamber (6) filled with a fluid is formed in the housing. The fluid chamber is sealed to the receptacle opening by a membrane (7). The membrane is pierced with a free end (9) of the pad in the use position. A fluid reservoir (12) is attached to the fluid chamber and is filled with a correction fluid. The correction fluid differs in chemical or physical characteristics from the fluid of the fluid chamber. A dosing unit is formed for adding a portion of the correction fluid to the fluid chamber.
