The method involves providing a control device that is intended for checking certain function of an electric oven, and releasing an action (2.1) when a change of temperature of a cooking chamber within the electric oven is detected. Initial temperature information provided by a temperature sensor within the cooking chamber is stored (2.2). An operating condition of the temperature sensor is determined (2.4) if temperature information obtained by the sensor is equal to the initial temperature information. An independent claim is also included for an electric oven.
