The method involves operating (S1) a control element of a radio remote control and sending (S2) a radio command from the radio remote control directly to the vehicle. The radio command is received (S3) by the vehicle. The energy store is charged (S4) by a charging cable attached to the vehicle depending on the radio command. The radio remote control displays a charging condition from a group of charging conditions. The radio remote control is equipped for direct communication with the vehicle. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a radio remote control with a light for executing the method; (2) a vehicle with a controller for executing the method; and (3) a radio remote control-vehicle-system with a mobile telephone.
