PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain transmission device in which a friction loss and an energy consumption rate are decreased, its durability is improved and noise generated under advancing or removing of a chain into or out of a chain guide is reduced by restricting softening of a resin shoe caused by frictional heat generated under a sliding contact between an outer link and an inner link of the chain.SOLUTION: A chain 101 having an outer link 110 and an inner link 120 are foldably connected in a chain transmission device is slidably contacted with a movable guide shoe 131 of a movable guide 103 at a chain loosed part and slidably contacted with a fixed guide shoe of a fixed guide at a chain tension part. The movable guide shoe 131 and the fixed guide shoe are resin shoes each of which has a movable guide raceway surface 133 and a fixed guide raceway surface formed by synthetic resin. The chain 101 slidably contacts with the movable guide raceway surface 133 only with the outer link 110 and slidably contacts with the fixed guide raceway surface only with the inner link 120.
