PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for determining an appropriate category expressing the content of the utterance data of a user.SOLUTION: A category determination device 100 includes: an utterance data acquisition part 31 for acquiring utterance text data of a user; a word extraction part 32 for extracting an object word from the utterance text data acquired by the utterance data acquisition part 31; a data acquisition part 33 for acquiring information data extracted from an information providing part 101 by using the object word extracted by the word extraction part 32 as a search keyword; a candidate extraction part 34 for extracting a candidate word for category discrimination corresponding to the object word from the information data acquired by the data acquisition part 33; and a category determination part 35 for determining a category corresponding to the content of the utterance text data by comparing a category discrimination word stored in a category discrimination table 36 with a candidate word extracted by the candidate extraction part 34.
