Provided are a base material for producing a honeycomb structure, a method for producing the same, a method for producing the honeycomb structure and a method for producing a honeycomb catalyst, in which the number of required steps can be few and equipment having special specifications, such as high temperature and high pressure, is not required. The present invention is the following: a base material which is used to produce the honeycomb structure and which is obtained by supporting an inorganic binder and a zeolite on a glass paper; a method for producing the base material for producing the honeycomb structure, the method including a step of coating a glass paper with a slurry consisting of a zeolite, water and a silica sol; a method for producing the honeycomb structure from such a base material; and a honeycomb catalyst produced from the honeycomb structure produced in the foregoing manner.
