A primary cell having a solid electrolyte containing tellurium as claimed in the parent Specification is provided with an electrode comprising colloidal graphite deposited from an aqueous dispersion and having a particle size of one micron or less. In an example the solid electrolyte consisting of silver iodide and tellurium is fused to one side of a silver sheet, and the electrolyte is then coated with a solution of copper bromide and an aqueous dispersion of colloidal graphite. Instead of copper bromide, a solution of iodine containing colloidal graphite may be used. In another example a mixture of silver bromide and tellurium is attached to a silver sheet which is coated on the other side with a dispersion of colloidal graphite and an epoxy resin or other binder. The layer of silver bromide and tellurium is coated with a pasty mixture of copper bromide and an aqueous dispersion of colloidal graphite. |
