An electrode for a lithium secondary battery comprises an active material consisting of a silicon oxide powder, graphite and binder, and a diamond like carbon (DLC) layer covering the surface of the active material. The DLC layer can suppress the volume expansion of the active material. The DLC layer can be suppressed in the reaction with the active material and electrolyte. Accordingly, when an electrode including the DLC layer is applied to a lithium secondary battery, the lithium secondary battery can have a stable cycle performance.
