The present invention relates to a Lactococcus lactis YC strain isolated from watery kimchi and a method for preparing gamma-aminobutyric acid using the same and, more specifically, to a Lactococcus lactis YC (KCCM11297P) strain which is a novel strain capable of producing gamma-aminobutyric acid and a method for producing gamma-aminobutyric acid using the same. By culturing and using the strain, fermented foods such as fermented milk including GABA, cheese, kimchi, yogurt, and the like can be manufactured. |
