This power conversion system is provided with: a capacitor (30) in which DC power is stored; an inverter (40) wherein a pair of DC terminals is connected to both ends, and an AC motor (50) is connected to an AC terminal as a load; a vertical arm (90) wherein connection points of semiconductor switches (91, 92), which are connected in series, are connected to a neutral point of the motor (50); a DC power source (10) that is connected in parallel to the vertical arm (90); and a gate switch (100) that is connected between one of the DC terminals of the inverter (40) and one end of the vertical arm (90). The other DC terminal of the inverter (40) is connected to the other terminal of the vertical arm (90). With the gate switch (100) in an off state, the inverter (40) operates as a zero-phase converter, the vertical arm (90) is switched, and bucking or boosting of the voltage of the DC power source (10) is carried out at the same time the motor (50) is driven by the inverter (40). Thus, the entire system is reduced in size and losses are reduced by eliminating the need for a step-up reactor, and the degree of freedom of the DC voltage of the inverter (40) is improved. |
