A small volume dental impression tray 1 is of sufficient size to take impressions of only the anterior primary (deciduous) teeth of a child. Impression material is received in a curved channel (2, figure 1) which has a volume of up to 15 cm3 but preferably of less than 5 cm3, a cross-sectional circumferential length of 30 to 40 mm, a width of 8-12 mm and a depth of 6-12 mm. A handle 4B may project from the tray. On the convex side of the channel there may be a wedge 4A defining an inclined surface, the wedge tapering in a direction from posterior to anterior. The surface is for engagement with the opposing teeth Z to those Y needing impression and is preferably inclined at up to 30 degrees from the fill plane X of the channel. The tray may be a unitary moulded article of thermoplastic elastomer and may be coated with a microencapsulated flavouring.
|
