Gas tap for a cooking appliance comprising a tap body (10) with a conical internal housing (10a) suitable for receiving a conical rotational member (11) for regulating gas flow (G), a manually-operated rotary shaft (2) coupled to the conical regulating member (11), and provided with a transverse means (12), a return spring (13) of the rotary shaft (2) that resists against the pressing movement of said shaft (2), and a cover (14) covering the housing (10a) of the tap body (10), guiding the rotation of the shaft (2) in cooperation with the transverse means (12), wherein the gas tap (1) comprises at least one resistance means (4), other than the return spring (13), that resists against the pressing movement of the rotary shaft (2).
