Crystalline forms of febuxostat

New forms of Febuxostat have bean, prepared and characterized. These forms are useful for examples in the chronic management of hyperuricemia in patients with gout.

1. A crystalline form of Febuxostat, designated Form F10, characterized by data selected from one or more of the following:
an X-ray powder diffraction pattern having peaks at 6.7°, 7.7°, 12.8°, 13.3° and 20.0°±0.2°2θ; a solid-state 13C NMR spectrum with signals at 112.7, 125.7, 132.4 and 168.3±0.2 ppm; and a solid-state 13C NMR spectrum having chemical shifts differences between the signal exhibiting the lowest chemical shift and another in the chemical shift range of 100 to 180 ppm of 11.7, 24.7, 31.4 and 67.3±0.1 ppm.
