PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide zinc oxide-based powder capable of achieving hot isostatic pressure sintering in which the volatilization of zinc is suppressed, and capable of producing a sintered compact having high density, a method for producing a zinc oxide-based sintered compact, and a target.SOLUTION: Provided is zinc oxide-based powder having a tap density of 2.8 g/cmor higher obtained by mixing titanium carbide powder and fired zinc oxide powder having a tap density of 2.8 g/cmor higher. The fired zinc oxide powder containing the titanium carbide in such a manner that the ratio of the atomic number of titanium to the total metal atomic number reaches 0.2 to 5%, and having a tap density of 2.8 g/cmis obtained by firing raw material zinc oxide powder having a tap density of less than 2.8 g/cm. |
