PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front plate for a touch panel, having such advantages that: the reflectance of a frame part in a front plate of a touch panel sensor is reduced; a black color of the frame part can be made similar to a black color when a display part of a display device is in a black display mode; infrared communications of an infrared communication part can be achieved without providing the frame part with an infrared communication window having an infrared transmitting film formed therein; and thereby, increase in the number of processes and the cost of manufacture can be prevented; and problems caused by a stepped part generated by formation of an infrared transmitting film in the frame part can be eliminated.SOLUTION: The front plate is provided with a frame part formed in an edge part of the plate on one surface thereof, for defining a display region in a predetermined shape. The front plate is made of a transparent material. The frame part comprises a layered structure of: (A) a first light-shielding layer which is a pseudo-black layer comprising a mixture of two or more pigments and having a transmittance of 30% or less for light at wavelengths from 400 nm to 750 nm, and which is formed at the front plate side; and (B) a second light-shielding layer which is formed to overlap the first light-shielding layer and which has an optical density (OD value) of 2 or more.
