PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer-coated particulate material which has both good wear resistance and good appearance, and is homogeneously coated with a polymer material, and to provide a method for forming the same.SOLUTION: The polymer-coated particulate material is formed by the steps of: preparing an aqueous dispersion obtained by melting and mixing a mixture which contains a dispersion medium that contains a thermoplastic polymer, water and an organic solvent as needed, and a polar dispersion stabilizing polymer that is different from the thermoplastic polymer; then pre-heating a granular material that becomes a base material; mixing and agitating the granular material and the aqueous dispersion; evaporating and removing a portion of the dispersion medium; and further cooling the resultant mixture. The method for forming the same is also disclosed.
