<p>A synthetic resin composition comprises an epoxy resin and shellac preferably in an amount of 10-90 per cent by weight of the composition. On heating the composition the shellac reacts with the epoxy resin to cure it, but additional curing agents may also be present, e.g. tetrachlorophthalic anhydride. The composition dissolved in a mixture of alcohol and toluene may be used to coat aluminium. It may also be used for impregnating or laminating (see Group VIII), or for casting or moulding. A filler, e.g. "Silex" (Registered Trade Mark) brand silica gel may be added.</p> |
